Jewish Synagogue & Museum "F. Levi"

The Jewish Museum "Fausto Levi z.l." in Soragna and the Jewish Community of Parma promote cultural events each year including courses, concerts, competitions for schools, meetings for dialogue, discussion and spirituality between different entities in the local territory.

The Synogogue is open on the second floor of the building.

The neo-classical style temple with elegant columns and Corinthian capitals (stucco A.Rusca) was built in 1855. Interesting paintings decorate the ceilings in false relief with floral decorations and depictions of biblical symbolism; the work of the local artist Giuseppe Levi. Exquisit for its neoclassical-empirical style doors depicting the Holy Ark doors where rolls of the Bible are kept. The grates of the Matroneum (women's gallery) as well as the adorning large candlesticks are gold gilded bronze casting. The Jewish synagogue houses an interesting museum with furniture and documents originating from disappearances from the Jewish community.

Farming Culture & Civilisation Museum

The "Museum of Farming Culture & Civilization" in Soragna is located in a structure once the ancient dairy farm "Castellazzi" which has belonged to the Meli Lupi family for centuries. As requested by the Municipality, the structure has remained a unique example of the local area, displaying an interesting collection of rural and domestic history. The museum makes use of the considerable amount of material made available by the well-known and passionate collector Mauro Parizzi, a local character, who has long used his free time researching and restoring. He alone has managed to give new life to several thousands of tools and objects that characterize the labour done in rural ancient times and more contemporary pasts; directly from the people of the fields and within the walls of their houses.

Located next to to the Museum of Parmigiano Reggiano, open Saturdays and Sundays, free of charge (see 'Open to the Public' in the previous paragraph for details)

Toys and games available for kids.

Parmigiano Reggiano Museum

" ... And there was a mountain of grated parmesan, on top of which were people who were making naught else but macaroni and ravioli and cooking them in capon broth, and then they were throwing them down, and the more one could grab, the more one had... "

Or so exclaims Giovanni Boccaccio in the Decameron, the King of Cheeses, which is worth celebrating in Soragna thanks to the Museum of Parmigiano Reggiano.

Just outside an old castle you will discover everything there is to know about this masterpiece of taste, from the Middle Ages to the present day, thanks to ancient tools and absolutely evocative surroundings. The, you can finally enjoy a well-deserved tasting, which ends your visit in the best possible way.
